I hear something unusual.

At the idling I noticed an unusual sound coming out of the Celsior's engine
1UZ-FE. It was a kind of whistle from the front part of the engine. I thought
it was from the throttle body but actually it was from the hose connected to
it, I finally found. Look at the photos below.

The ventilation hose used between the PCV valve and the throttle body has
a crack. The crack is almost an inch length and that is enough to absorb
the air. This caused a noise and also it disturbed the idle control function
of the ECU. Now I understood why the idle rpm has varied.

The center one is a new hose about to use. The small one at the left is a
PCV valve which is still in good condition.

The initial purpose of the job is to change a seal for PCV valve used at the
cam shaft cover. There was some oil leakage from the seal and I wanted to
renew it. The seal has been in use for 13 years and it was hardened by the
heat cycle. Loosing the flexibility it could not prevent the oil to leak.

I have tried to remove the PCV valve first but the seal and the hose were
both so tight that I have needed to wait a few days applying CRC-556 and
other lublicants for that part. The whistle sound has started after that and I
thought It was cased by my rough handling of the hose and the PCV valve.

When I tried to remove the seal, it was broken into pieces and the lower
part has dropped down to the cam case. Did I need to remove the whole
cover? No. I managed to succeed to pick it up luckily.

and succeeded to pick up.

Anyway, I changed the seal and the hose. There is no more oil leakage
nor whistle sound. The idling is now very stable.
