Security system only for 990 Yen

I found a security system dBDog CS-100 tagged only 990 Yen at my local
parts shop. I first thought it was 9900 Yen and I asked the man in the shop,
“You must forgot to put one more 0.” He replied, “No. it is 990 Yen sharp.”

I asked the reason why, “Used or broken?"
He replied, “I don't know. All I can say is that we sell it as a junk”

I love a word “Junk”. I enjoy fixing junks. My Celsior was almost a junk before.
One of my relatives had been owing it but he gave up keeping it since it began
to show many different problems and it stopped working. It needed him to pay
big money to fix them but he did notwant to do so. In stead of fixing it, he
suggested me to buy it since he knew that I try to fix almost anything except
human beings.

That is the reason why the Celsior is in my yard and I enjoy fixing it. Now the
remaining problems are getting less and the car runs great as a new.
That was the reason why I write about the Celsior how I fix it. It is 13 years old
but it looks almost new. Many visitors to my house said, “ Did you buy a new
big car?”  It has 4 layers of painting and it still shines as new after waxed.
It keeps shinning for a couple of months or more. A friend of mine told me
I'd better to set up a security system.

So, I bought a junk security system dBDog CS-100 paying 990 Yen for a junk
car once. Below is a photo of CS-100 and attachments.

Before I set it up, I have checked it at my bench using a good DC 12V power
unit. Everything worked fine. It has a built in air pressure sensor and a voltage
sensor. As I change one of these slightly, it worked sounding 113dB of big
warning sound. I could start, stop and cease the function using the remote
controller perfectly. Nothing was wrong with it as far as I check at my bench
in the room. But I was keeping in mind that it was sold as a junk and there
might be something.

After setting it up to the Celsior, I enabled it using a remote controller and I
opened the drivers side door. It worked and sounded loud. Then I tried to
stop it, but it didn't stop.  I pushed the switch several times but still it kept
sounding and I ended up disconnecting the battery.

I began to investigate the reason why it didn't stop. I connected it directly
to the battery and it worked OK. Then I understood that it was caused by
the resistance between the battery and the unit. There exists a resistance
of wire and fuses. These cause a voltage drop and the current change
causes the voltage change up and down. This unexpected change
malfunctions the unit.

While I was investigating, it's getting dark and cold. The sun was setting.
I tried the unit on by the remote controller but it didn't work. As I check more
I noticed it was the low temperature that stopped the function. Warming up
the remote controller in my pocket, it worked. Cooling it down putting it on
the hood for a while, it doesn't work. This definitely tells me that the low
temperature disables the function. I remembered the word “A junk”
spoken by the man in the shop clearly.

To make a long story short, I now use the unit perfectly, after modifying
several items. Only 990 Yen unit is now working well without any problem
written above and others. Some people would say, "It's just broken."
Others would say," It's a design issue." Broken or poorly designed is not
a big issue to me. I bought it as a junk and I enjoy to modify it to work well.
Below was the inside of the remote controller.just before I started to modify.
Now it is completely different from this.

It has a hair-pin pattern aiming to work as an antenna and a resonance loop.
The frequency is decided by this loop and the capacitors. You never can
expect a precise and stable frequency by these. Actually it drifts more than
250KHz in several minutes moving from my room to outside. My efforts
improved the unit from a junk to a usable unit. It was not an easy job but I
really enjoyed the process. Sorry that the details can not be written to avoid
someone to steal my car.
